Grassroots Rising: Leveling Up in the Climate Fight – Online conference
Register now for the November 2023 Citizens' Climate empowerment conference focused on building grassroots strength and coordination.
On Saturday, November 4, and Sunday, November 5, 2023, Citizens’ Climate Lobby will hold a virtual climate empowerment conference titled Grassroots Rising: Leveling Up in the Climate Fight. You can register to attend at no cost and access a packed agenda full of proven organizing insights.
Much of the conference will focus on civic organizing experiences in the United States, but many of the lessons learned and best practices are applicable to any effort to coordinate local volunteer chapters or to make the most out of meetings with public officials. From visionary social entrepreneur Van Jones to legislative and civic engagement insights from some of the most tested CCL organizers, this conference can help you grow your team, enhance volunteer engagement, and focus your efforts on building trust and making more good possible.
And don’t miss CCI’s Sunday seminar:
Improving Lives through Game-Changing Climate Cooperation
Date: Sunday, November 5, 2023
Time: 1:00 pm EDT (18:00 UTC)
Duration: 90 minutes
In 1992, the world agreed to “prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system”. In 2023, we are seeing dangerous climate impacts play out everywhere, constantly. We may be, however, on the brink of a major breakthrough in the acceleration of global climate action. Negotiations around Article 6.8 of the Paris Agreement are inviting concrete talk about cooperative climate clubs of aligned pollution pricing and incentives, and pointing to a future of the ultimate goal of establishing a future of climate-smart trade.

CCL’s 2023 Grassroots Rising conference will feature:
Keynote speaker: Van Jones, author, CNN Commentator, Social Entrepreneur
Closing keynote speaker: Dr. Danny Richter, former CCL VP of Government Affairs. Will be discussing the relevance of a carbon price, and tips on building networks
Dana Nuccitelli's session will review U.S. climate legislation "wins" over the last year or so, like the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, and how they are paving the way for emissions reductions, more jobs, and clean energy deployment.
The Breakout sessions are designed to support volunteer advocacy work. CCL staff and volunteers will offer invaluable guidance and share unique outreach ideas to implement in local chapters.
We’ll have an Action Team Fair (7 p.m. ET) and virtual reception (8 p.m. ET) on Friday, Nov. 3rd.
There will be an Informational Session on Sat., Nov. 4th at 12 p.m. ET (right before the conference starts at 1 p.m. ET) - great place to send new people.
Sunday Seminars on Sunday, Nov. 5 start at 1 p.m. ET and go deeper into a topic than regular breakout sessions. There are 4 choices, and more info can be found on the website.
